Today’s Ffffound: Noodley Master

Saturday, October 10, 2009

Right, so this is rather simple but I went for it because A.) I wasn’t in the mood for something complex and more importantly B.) because I think it’s hilarious.

If you’re unaware of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, aware yourself.

Our pasta, who art in a colander, draining be your noodles. Thy noodle come, Thy sauce be yum, on top some grated Parmesan. Give us this day our garlic bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trample on our lawns. And lead us not into vegetarianism, but deliver us some pizza, for thine is the meatball, the noodle, and the sauce, forever and ever. Ramen.

Eat. Sleep. Internet.

I spent at least 7 straight hours of my day in front of Google products, specifically adwords and wave, but let’s throw gmail and search in there for good measure.

Yes I got a wave invite and began to use it. First impression? The idea is solid, the implementation needs work. It also needs Chrome, don’t frustrate yourself with it in Firefox.

No ffffound tonight, I’m ready for bed. Mmmmusic instead, depending on the current time of day.

The Subtleties of Sam

Wednesday, October 07, 2009

I’ve been having a lot of fun digging through old photos, like the winter scene I shot way back in 2003 that I used in The Gateway.

I shot portraits of my friends in 2007 and they’re still as funny as the day we shot them. I’ll find excuses to post more of them soon.

Today’s ffffound: Channels

This one is pretty straightforward, but more than 3/4 of my time was spent wrestling with Photoshop’s gradient system. Every gradient I made looked more like a donut and less like a gradual progression of color.

  1. Pay attention to both colors at the ends of your gradients, the color affects the gradient even if it’s set too 0% opacity.
  2. Use clipping masks when working with vector shapes and gradients or other non-solid color fills. Using pixel based selections and fills will bite you in the ass when you need to resize the whole document.

Today’s ffffound: Kobun Voodoo

Tuesday, October 06, 2009

I’ve been trolling through my photos lately for these ffffound pieces. It goes something like this:

Fuck. I have a lot of photos. Can I post photos from 2006 on flickr? Would anyone care? Wait…no one cares now. Perfect!

So there, expect old photos, made new again, on flickr.
