Good Friday
The Secret Sun by Tanya Johnston
I don’t have much to offer right now other than three songs, loosely related.
I love Ffffound, and I love that despite my inescapable cynicism, thousands of people are somehow able to trudge through and make excellent stuff.
Here’s to a rainy weekend.

Today’s Found
It’s been a while, a little too while…
Sara got me a print of this Chad Hagen piece that had been making the rounds:
I get the general method of how he constructed it, even if I didn’t match it aesthetically:
I had fun constructing this, it was akin to playing with legos. Today on Reddit someone asked, “If your twelve year old self saw you today, what would he say?” He would probably say that that thing was pretty cool. Then hopefully he would get a realistic sense of perspective on his age and enjoy the hell out of being twelve.
Maybe being 25 isn’t that much different.
In supplement, here’s a shot of the print framed and lit:

I’m particularly proud of that lighting solution I’ve concocted. I’m sure it will make Ben proud.* Especially when it falls down in the middle of the night electrocuting my right foot.
*I believe this is one of Ben’s clamps, too.
Add this to the list
of things to do when I befriend a group of soccer all-stars.
Awesome. Times Two. Thousand.
Today’s Ffffound: Noodley Master
Right, so this is rather simple but I went for it because A.) I wasn’t in the mood for something complex and more importantly B.) because I think it’s hilarious.
If you’re unaware of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, aware yourself.

Our pasta, who art in a colander, draining be your noodles. Thy noodle come, Thy sauce be yum, on top some grated Parmesan. Give us this day our garlic bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trample on our lawns. And lead us not into vegetarianism, but deliver us some pizza, for thine is the meatball, the noodle, and the sauce, forever and ever. Ramen.
Today’s ffffound: Kobun Voodoo
I’ve been trolling through my photos lately for these ffffound pieces. It goes something like this:
Fuck. I have a lot of photos. Can I post photos from 2006 on flickr? Would anyone care? Wait…no one cares now. Perfect!
So there, expect old photos, made new again, on flickr.

Today’s ffffound: Ink
Sleep or ffffound fun? I’m keeping this going while the novelty is still warm.
No context for this one, just the found page.

Also, I desperately need real fonts. I’ve got the fonts I used up there, Wingdings, and a broken font that only makes boxes. And Helvetica.
Today’s ffffound: graphn’ circles
It’s about 2:49am, but fuck if I’m going to a Friday out stop me from making crappy art copies!
Originally I wanted to use this but it wasn’t going well. I’ll return to it later.
Instead I went for the easiest shape in the universe: circles. Circles done by Bridget Louise Riley, who until this posting, I didn’t know about. Thanks ffffound!
What I like about my drawing is I ended up making offset circles instead of perfect geometric inlays. Take that, graph paper.

Today’s found: Cassini and Saturn
I would suggest stopping what you’re doing and viewing these photos that the satellite Cassini took of Saturn and her rings. They are astounding. I want to travel to space more than anything.
I only spent 5 minutes on this one.

Todays ffffound: After the Earthquake
This was extremely hard. I have to give a huge amount of props to the original designer speedyjvw. Once I figured out how to actually build the thing, the hardest part was picking colors that didn’t look ugly or poorly matched.
The biggest lessons I learned this time are that Illustrator’s system of handling gradient colors sucks. I’m still using the peasant's Illustrator, CS3. I can’t be bothered to jump through the flaming hoops of CS4 activation. However if they improved the damn color picker, I might have to.
Anyways, this was a rabbit’s hole and it took me nearly an hour just to come up with someone that didn’t look like it was done in KidPix.
