The Subtleties of Sam
I’ve been having a lot of fun digging through old photos, like the winter scene I shot way back in 2003 that I used in The Gateway.
I shot portraits of my friends in 2007 and they’re still as funny as the day we shot them. I’ll find excuses to post more of them soon.
Today’s ffffound: Kobun Voodoo
I’ve been trolling through my photos lately for these ffffound pieces. It goes something like this:
Fuck. I have a lot of photos. Can I post photos from 2006 on flickr? Would anyone care? Wait…no one cares now. Perfect!
So there, expect old photos, made new again, on flickr.

*look at that, Kobun was on flickr.
Flat Stanley
No ffffound today. HOWEVER you get something better: The Adventures of Flat Stanley.
My nephew Ben is participating in a class project where they send a “Flat Stanley” out to someone across the country or across the globe and hope to receive a postcard back with some interesting info about their friend’s home.
Since a single postcard is lame I took Stanley with me everywhere this weekend.
Stanley arrived last Friday and spent the night in a makeshift sleeping bag.
Ted attempted but failed to eat him.
He hung out while I got a haircut.
And stowed away when I went to the climbing gym.
He heads home tomorrow, a little late, but with way more than single postcard; at least 4 postcards! Yeah!

Putting the Highlandtown photos to good use with today’s ffffound.

Road Trip 09 – Colorado
We stayed the cabin of the very generous Davis family. Ben and Pete made a fire:
Road Trip 09 - FOAMHENGE
Just like the real thing, except American. Spotted somewheres in Virginia
Walking to TV Hill
There’s a place past the 41st street bridge over the freeway called TV hill. It’s called that because it houses several giant signal towers and at least 2 TV broadcasting stations. Sam and I went exploring around there on Monday.
These photos were shot with an iPhone 3G, so keep that in mind. Or don’t.
Recession Sam
Andres, the lead on the Recession Nation Project, has been hounding me for weeks to do one simple thing: participate. I always said I was just waiting to submit the right thing, which may or may not have been a cover for being lazy. Anyways, here’s my picture of my roommate Sam cleaning the kitchen with his cellphone jammed into his bike helmet as an improvised bluetooth headset.

I love this photo. Our makeshift kitchen, the blue-collar plaid on the ceiling and in Sam’s shirt, his mismatched socks, and the literal “head set” is all great.
I’m usually my own worst critic, honest.
Anyways, check out Recession Nation Project and submit something soon! Your work has a very good chance of ending up in print.
